Our master chef Kenji Morishima brings his years of experience from Tokyo straight to your plate. With an illustrious career in Japan spanning across Osaka and Tokyo, Kenji comes from a family of chefs- with his dad having helmed and owned many Japanese restaurants as well as working as a private chef to the 58th Prime Minister of Japan.
Kenji is no stranger to success himself, having helmed many restaurants in Japan including the highly successful Ebisu's Live Fish Cuisine Uotake and most recently was the owner of Yataimura Ajikurabu in Nihonbashi. His most recent endeavours have have seen him establish Kenmokko, Inc. in Chigasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture that focuses on the planning and production of Japanese culinary knives.
His passion is to pass on his years of knowledge and the basics of Japanese cuisine passed down by his father to young chefs around the world, while sharing the art of Japanese cuisine.
The menu created for Island Izakaya is a testament to this with a nod to modern and local influences as well - expect simple Izakaya dishes done well in a cozy Japanese bar environment reminiscent of Izakayas in Tokyo.
