The Ming Tombs are located at the southern foot of Tianshou Mountain in Changping District, Beijing. The Changling was built in May of the seventh year of Yongle (1409 AD) until the last emperor Chongzhen of the Ming Dynasty was buried in Siling. During the 230 years, 13 magnificent imperial tombs, 7 concubines' tombs, and 1 eunuch's tomb were built here. A total of 13 emperors, 23 queens, 2 princes, more than 30 concubines, and 1 eunuch were buried here. It is the most well-preserved tomb group in the world with the most buried emperors. The Ming Tombs are magnificent, complete in system, and have a long history. They have high historical and cultural value. The mausoleum palace building of Changling covers an area of about 120,000 square meters. Its plane layout is in the shape of a front and a back circle. The square part in front of it is composed of three courtyards connected in front and back. The mausoleum gate of Changling faces north and south. Entering the mausoleum gate, there is a stele pavilion on the right hand side, that is, on the east side. The pavilion is a wooden structure. A large stone tablet stands in the pavilion with a unique shape. There is a coiled dragon on the top of the tablet, and its head pops out of the tablet. The base of the tablet is a mythical beast with a dragon head and a tortoise body covered with scales. Go through the mausoleum gate and walk north. You will see the Zun'en Gate in front. After passing the Zun'en Gate, there is a sacred silk furnace on each side of the east and west, and the magnificent Zun'en Hall is right in front. The Zun'en Hall is the main hall of Changling. Its architectural style is consistent with the Hall of Supreme Harmony in the Forbidden City. The beams, columns, and purlins are all made of whole golden nanmu wood. The diameter of the columns is more than 1 meter, which is a rare and precious wood in the world. Entering the main hall, in the middle is a tall bronze statue of Zhu Di, the Emperor of Ming Dynasty. This is the image of Zhu Di in his old age, sitting on the throne with a serious expression.
