Koreans held a high regard for the flower, and the large full size of the elegant flower stated them as the “king of flowers”. It also symbolized a life of wealth, honor, and high social status and was widely used as a motif in paintings throughout the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910). Fruit seeds and vegetables containing large amounts of seeds such as grapes, watermelons, pomegranates and honrned oranges symbolize fertility and prosperity of family. Vine plants such as grapes, cucumbers and melons represented the uninterruped linage. Among them, the immortal peach, believed blossom only once every three thousand years, bearing fruits for three thousand years after blossoming, is a motif that expresses the desire for longevity. Those who ate this peach were believed to live foe eight thousand years. 3. Tiger • 15x 15cm • Taking hours : about 2 hours -With their large bodies, menacing faces, and sharp teeth and claws, Koreans of the past regarded tigers as fascinating beings with the valor and power required to drive away evil spirits. When the new year arrived, every household posted tiger paintings on its door.
