ー Introduction to Hsinchu City Zoo ー
Hsinchu Municipal Zoo was founded in 1936, and is 86 years old this year. It is the oldest existing zoo in Taiwan. In 2016, the "Zoo Regeneration Project" project was launched. With three core values, the first is to be friendly to animals, and to create an exhibition hall without cages that is suitable for animals. The activity space of each animal is 1.5 times that of the past; Trees, elephant gates and other historical buildings make everyone feel familiar and full of surprises when entering the zoo; thirdly, promoting life education and making the zoo a good place for people to experience life education is an important mission of the Hsinchu Zoo. The reopening of the zoo on December 28, 2018 allowed this zoo, which had been gradually forgotten, to refurbish its brand and become a popular attraction. The most popular "five attractions" in the park include the historical building "Elephant Gate" ", to "Hippo Lele", "Bengal Tiger New Home Experience", "Big Bird Cage", and "Forest Canteen".
"Elephant Gate" This gate was built by a Japanese designer imitating the gate of Hagenbeck Zoo in Germany. During the reorganization of the zoo, the team tried to find out the most authentic color tone of the elephant gate, and the paint was peeled off layer by layer. In the end, 13 layers were peeled off. Only then did the most original blue-green color of the elephant head appear. Nowadays, many people still keep their childhood photos with the Elephant Gate. After the reopening, you are welcome to take another "time and space restoration photo"! After "Hippo Lele" enters through the Elephant Gate, the second must-see is the home of the popular star "Hippo Lele" on the right. After the "redecoration" of the new home, Hippo Lele's living space has doubled. The park specially sets up ultra-low glass viewing windows for children, forming a "cutest skyline" of about 120-130 cm. Not only is Lele eating feed, Lele shaking his head when he walks ashore, and Lele is sunbathing on the sandpit The cute appearance can be seen from the child's sight at a glance, and parents don't have to worry about lifting the child high or holding the child sorely.
"Rainforest Passage", I had the opportunity to see the Bengal tiger twin brothers "Liufu" and "Laifu" at close range, and the neighbors of the tiger brothers, the orangutan Xiongda, the sun bear Dudu and Pooh, always amazed the children Hi again. In fact, from the perspective of animals, we are the human beings locked in the secret passage, and we don't know who is being watched by whom! The "big old birdcage" has been preserved by the park, and a climbing rope net has been set up inside, and a sandpit has been laid on the outside. Children take pictures and punch cards. "Forest Canteen" is a beautiful parent-child restaurant like an art gallery. The white simple and neat shape is matched with large glass curtains, allowing diners to look at the eland antelopes in the tall grass and sparse forest area through the floor-to-ceiling windows. "Enjoy your meal while watching the antelopes Click ", after charging, continue to explore the zoo.
If you are still interested, there is also the Zoo branch of the Hsinchu City Library located on the first floor of the basement on the Century Avenue around the zoo, and the "Entrance Free Unlimited Tour" Insect Museum, which is also a must-visit place for parents and children. The Hsinchu City Cultural Bureau has created a warm reading space. It collects many ecological books on animals and plants, so that children can absorb knowledge to their heart's content; the "Insect Museum" transformed from the old China Broadcasting Station displays Hercules chinensis, Sulcata giant tortoise, snake-eating turtle, capybara, chameleon and Spectacled caimans and other animals, people who love animals must not miss it.
