After all, how often can you say you “summitted” an active volcano at sunrise? You’ll spend 2 days exploring Mount Rinjani National Park, home to the second largest volcano in Indonesia (rivalled in size only by Mount Kerinci on Sumatra). During the first day of this trekking tour, we’ll get immersed in the natural beauty of Lombok from dense grasslands to lush forest, rugged terrain and jutting peaks. For a total bucket list experience, we’ll camp near the rim of Rinjani, an experience made comfortable and enjoyable by your experienced guide and porter who will help you set up your tents and portable toilet block. After a tasty dinner, you’ll set your alarm for an early morning wake-up and trek to Rinjani crater rim for sunrise. A 50km caldera lake at the crater rim bubbles with thermal waters and releases plumes of steam. Regular eruptions have created a new mountain in the middle of the lake, and the area has recently become a UNESCO zone.
