Xiaoliuqiu is the only coral reef island in Taiwan. It is home to a very rich coral reef ecology and sea turtles. Due to the influence of the tributary of the Kuroshio Current, the sea temperature remains above 25 degrees all year round. In winter, it is also blocked by the central mountain range.
