Departing from your hotel in Kandy, your wonderful day of adventure with the largest captive herd of elephants in the world begins when you reach Pinnawala and you're given the opportunity to feed the elephants of the orphanage. This immense herd once had numbers over 10,000 back in 2011, and you will be able to see how the orphanage cares for all these elephants. The institution is a combined orphanage, nursery, and captive breeding ground for Asian elephants as they try to increase their numbers. They have been saving orphaned elephants who have been abandoned by their mothers or having been lost in the wild due to development projects or similar interference. You'll play with the elephants and see the river side area where elephants wade and swim, cooling off from the sun. You'll enjoy a break for lunch before you head out to see the Kandy View Point, which gives you a splendid panorama of the city itself sprawled below. You can then head for the Royal Botanical Garden, which has a famous collection of orchids in so many varieties. Your tour ends with a drop off back at your hotel.
