As we all know, Suzhou River is the mother river of Shanghai. Although it is not as majestic as the Pujiang River, it represents the most life-oriented Shanghai and has given birth to important capillaries related to Shanghai's urban economic development such as docks, warehouses, and national assets. As recently as the 1990s, most of the Suzhou River was still a smelly urban river that no one would walk on. The improvement of the Suzhou River has taken nearly 30 years.
