It is named after a giant elephant that stretches out its long trunk and drinks the sweet water of the Li River. Shu Shu, a doctor in the Ministry of Works in the Qing Dynasty, wrote in "Elephant Hill Records": "The most unique thing about western Guangdong is the mountains, the most unique thing about the mountains in western Guangdong is the stones, and the relative elephant of the provincial capital is even more unique."
